SEMINAR 'STRENGTHENING THE COMPLIANCE OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT 1974 :
WATER QUALITY ENFORCEMENT AND MONITORING'
The seminar titled “Strengthening The Compliance Of Environmental Quality Act 1974: Water Quality Enforcement and Monitoring” is proposed to be organised through a collaboration between the Department of Environment (DOE) Perlis and the Sports and Welfare Club of the Department of Environment Perlis (KASLIS) with the following objectives:
a) To enhance participants’ understanding of the Environmental Quality Act 1974 (EQA 1974) and the relevant regulations pertaining to water pollution control, including recent amendments to the Act and the current enforcement status related to water pollution in Malaysia, particularly in the State of Perlis;
b) To provide insights into the current status of water quality monitored by relevant agencies such as the Department of Environment (DOE) and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) through their respective monitoring programmes;
c) To raise awareness on the importance of implementing effective and systematic water quality monitoring programmes in controlling pollution and improving overall water quality;
d) To highlight the importance of maintaining water quality in ensuring the sustainability and preservation of the unique ecosystems in the State of Perlis
