Please be informed that, a control mechanism for the importation of scrap metal will be implemented by SIRIM. To this end, a new guideline for the importation of scrap metal has been developed by MITI and SIRIM.

An interim measure will be implemented to enable the industry to adapt to the new guidelines. During this interim period until 31 August 2021, all applications for scrap metal import review letters still need to be submitted to DOE where the application procedure is based on existing guidelines issued by DOE.

Beginning 16 July 2021, the importation of scrap metal will adopt the criteria set by SIRIM.
