Introduction

Preschool is one of the education system in Malaysia and it is provided as an initial preparation for children aged 4 to 6 years to enter the school environment. Preschool education aims to nurture the potential of children in all aspects of development, master basic skills and cultivate positive attitudes in preparation for entering primary school. The learning concept used is `Learning While Playing ‘which is by emphasizing the aspect of` Themed Learning’ which includes class activities, group activities and individual activities.

Introduction

The Sustainable Preschool Environmental Awareness Module has been published by the Department of the Environment for the education of preschool children. The purpose of this published module is to educate children about the importance of the environment. This module is divided into 2 sets, namely the TASKA and TADIKA sets.

Programs such as seminars, workshops, etc. conducted by the Department of Environment under the Preschool Program place a specific target group, namely officers involved with preschool education such as the Department of Community Development (KEMAS), Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN), Ministry of Education Malaysia, teachers and the children themselves. The program assists teachers in delving into environmental issues and in turn is able to educate preschool children about the importance of the environment.

Sustainable Preschool Environmental Awareness Module

The Sustainable Preschool Environmental Awareness Module has 5 main components of the environment namely air, water, plants, animals and recycling. It is also equipped with a Teacher’s Guide Manual and also a CD as a facility for teachers to reprint the module.
